Mal Condon of Hydrangea Farm Nursey is pictured to the left along with Penny McHenry, founder of the American Hydrangea Society, and Robert Mallet, who along with his wife Corinne founded "Association Shamrock" which features gardens containing the world's most complete Hydrangea collection of over 1,000 named cultivars. Nantucket Hydrangea was established in 1997 with the intent of growing an eclectic selection of the world's more than 1,000 named hydrangeas. Proprieter Frank Dutra continues to supply savvy gardeners and discriminating collectors from around the country with an ever expanding selection of reasonably priced starter plants for landscape, patio, and interiors, along with delightful fresh cut bouquets, distinctive flowering plants, and darling miniatures. Many of the plants and flowers are from rare, forgotten "Heirloom" varieties that have long been unavailable in the US and elsewhere. Their forgotten Victorian charm yield a dazzling array of color and form that is rarely seen and seldom available elsewhere.

A lifelong gardener, Mal has been propagating and growing hydrangeas for the past 20 years. Initially as a passion, his retirement from the full-time engineering world in 1999 has allowed him to pursue hydrangea nurturing with total commitment. Ever the engineer, he brings a strong technical and investigative nature to our partnership always looking for new and better plants and ways to produce them. Long a noted speaker in his former business career, Mal now greatly enjoys presenting the many virtues of our favorite plant to avid garden clubs, nursery centers, and plant associations including the American Hydrangea Society. He'll be addressing the Ladies Luncheon group on Nantucket in April and the Savannah River Chapter of the AHS in November in Aitken, SC.
